The Tenth House - Where Everything Winds Up

I forgot to mention that although my participants were attracted to my site because of the subject matter I do realize that each participant is more than their ink and each one is more than likely a productive member of society working in any number of possible career categories. These career categories can also be derived through a thorough chart interpretation, however what I am searching for in the horoscope patterns of each of these participants are not career indicators but rather personality indicators of people who would readily submit to being tattooed. So my interpretations are more psychologically based rather than career based. With that said I shall continue on with the final and last quadrant which is the fourth quadrant.

I will reiterate here that our Aries participant is a Cancer rising, and has a Moon in Taurus. When looking at the fourth quadrant it is important to look at the ruler of the tenth house and where it is located in the horoscope because the final outcome representing the individual's career and reputation will be indicated by the planet ruling the tenth.

I will follow Dobereiner's lead here with the following steps:
1. Ruler of the Ascendant - What is striving for expression? -
2. The Sun - How will it be brought to fulfillment?
3. The Ruler of the 10th and it's location - What is the final outcome about?

My Aries friend is striving for emotional expression because he/she is a Cancer rising. The emotions of this individual as indicated by the Moon in the 10th house indicate that he/she is striving for recognition and will fulfill this urge through 9th house activities, such as education, law, or other lofty mental pursuits. Where all this winds up is in the 10th house because the ruler of the 10th is in the 10th. So our participant here is recognized for Mars in the 10th. Standing up or fighting for what he/she believes in.

The ruler of the 9th house is Neptune so the belief system of our pioneering Aries has a spiritual flavor to it. Neptune is squaring the ascendant and descendant so it looks as if his/her beliefs might be difficult for others to understand even to the point of feeling alienated within his/her own family.

MAKING ASTROLOGY SIMPLE IS A LOT OF WORK

In order to keep things simple, Dobereiner's students are not presented with an entire horoscope like so many astrology teachers do, but instead he uses just the bare bones of a chart as a way to keep everyone focused on one thing at a time.

He illustrates with precision, how we can find out an awful lot about a person with as little as the ascendant, it's ruler, the Sun and the ruler of the 10th

There is no way to make a perfect system better and in order to save myself time I am inserting
two paragraphs from Michel McMullin's article published on Radical Astrology's website. They contain the proper guidelines that will enable you to get well on your way to finding and understanding the person within the horoscope before I give you the next steps to take.

The Ascendant, Sun and Midheaven In teaching his method Döbereiner insists on starting by acquiring a thorough understanding of the main structural features and basic factors of a horoscope. After the quadrants, the primary factors are the Ascendant (ASC) and its ruler(s), the Sun, and the Midheaven (MC) and its ruler(s). The ASC represents the "endowment", the attributes or make-up with which we come into this world, and which strive for fulfillment or externalisation, and which because of this seek out the appropriate event. The sign on the ASC, the placement of its ruler (or rulers in the case of an intercepted sign in the lst house), and also any planets in the 1st house, show the nature of this endowment. The Sun shows the manner in which this endowment is realised, or the behaviour, which "binds these attributes to time and space". The attributes unite with the behaviour in events - the behaviour can satisfy the attributes by supplying the necessary events, when the attributes become identified with the outward manifestation: "The realization (Sun) is the attempt to bring the endowment (ASC) as fully as possible into consciousness or experience". The endowment is, so to say, a slumbering state and is driven out by this manner of externalization. He compares it to the prince in the fairy tales who has been cast under a spell, while the Sun is the task which has to be performed for deliverance, the only way the dharma can be achieved. The ASC is the "thing as such", the Sun is the fulfillment. The MC and 10th house then shows the significance of the individual's development, his "calling" or dharma - (not career, for he makes his living in the 6th house). Here, extra personal criteria are binding; this is what he means to other people, or what his achievement means in terms of the world at large, as an end result. The situation of the ruling planet then throws light on this.

A SIMPLIFIED EXAMPLE

THE RISING SIGN
1. Look at the rising sign and ask yourself what the endowed nature is striving to express

THE RULER OF THE ASCENDANT
2. Look at the ruler of the ascendant, the quadrant and house that it is in.

THE SUN
3. Look to the quadrant and house location the Sun is in.

THE RULER OF THE MIDHEAVEN
4. Look to the ruler of the midheaven, the sign on the MC, and the quadrant it is in.

Let us assume that we are looking at a chart of a person with Gemini rising.
What is the endowment striving to express?
Gemini rising is striving to communicate something.

Let us then assume that the ruling planet Mercury was in the seventh house.
Since Mercury is located in the seventh house it is safe to assume that this person is striving to communicate through encountering ideas.

Let us next assume that the Sun is in the sixth house Since the Sun is in the sixth house it is safe to assume that this person's endowed nature to communicate ideas will be fulfilled through adapting emotionally to them in the work he or she does

Let us next assume that the sign on the MC was in Aquarius and the ruler of the MC was in the 12th house.
The career does not adapt to a conventional manner of expression as denoted by Aquarius and it's ruler located in the twelfth house.
